Borrowed

Leaving my borrowed house of borrowed walls
Checking my borrowed looks in the mirror in the borrowed hall
I step out onto my borrowed street
I cast a borrowed smile to the strangers I greet
I sit at the bar of borrowed design
I watch people sip their borrowed wine
I see people emitting borrowed tears
Borrowed from those they once held dear
We exchange borrowed words and borrowed lines
We laugh and we smile on borrowed time
We spend borrowed money and we drive borrowed cars
We touch for borrowed moments under the sun and the stars
We kiss with borrowed lips and we love with borrowed hearts
We teach and we learn from borrowed arts
All things that we have we turn and disperse
In seconds and moments, in action and verse
We borrow from others and we lend out our own
All should be loved for each moment’s a loan.
