Daybreak

Laid awake in the wee morning hour
I stare up at the shining moon
Still admiring her through the garden bower
Though daybreak is coming soon

The night is leaving quietly
While the world is still asleep
Off on adventures laid entirely
On pillows and counted sheep

The quiet wind’s song a serenade
Flows through the city’s streets
The dawn’s light edging, shadows fade
Readying the day we are soon to greet.
