My Healing Strength is Within You
"Sometimes the hardest part of the journey is believing you're worthy of the trip"
-Glenn Beck
I was sitting at the Spiritualist Church on Sunday thinking about my life. I have had so much going on in the past few weeks including the anniversaries of two deaths, some intrapersonal difficulty and a total re-thinking of my path. It would be a lie to tell you that it didn't feel like the same rock-bottom I had as a teenager. I know you too have had times like this. There is also that moment when you realize that even talking to your best friends about it doesn't seem to take the pressure off. It is in that moment perhaps that I decided to 'Let Go and Let God' as my friend Maureen Landry has said on many an occasion.

I think when we are under significant pressure, stress and emotional discord we have to realize that life is changing. Now I am a believer in the continuum of the human spirit in the hereafter but I have come to be a believer in this same continuum while we are on our earthly journey. That continuum means that we are never going backwards. As I was sitting in church a healing meditation came on. I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes but I did not cry. When the actual healing portion of the service began I started walking up to the front to sit in the chair to receive healing and immediately all of the chairs we taken. I felt my heart drop. As I started walking back to my seat I heard a strong voice within me (and all around me) say:
"Matthew, you do not need to sit in a chair for healing"
I knew at that moment that this voice was an aspect of my higher self -The Godself. I sat back down in the pew, closed my eyes and kept seeing an image of these beautiful golden stairs in front of me. In my mind I started to walk up the stairs and I felt a warmth I had only felt a few times in my life. It was glowing from my heart that created a diffusion of heat and light all around me. Tears started to roll down my face almost uncontrollably. When I reached the top of the stairs in my mind I was greeted by a light force that said again:
"Matthew you do not need to sit in a chair for healing..."
It then continued:
"Healing is within you. You know a part of God is within you. It has never left you."
I felt so apart of something in that moment. The problems and issues I was facing in my physical life left my Spirit unharmed. We all have an idea of what God is but most know that God cannot come to harm. That strength, resilience, peace, knowledge and wisdom lays within each and every one of us, always. Life is never going to be perfect and probably not easy either. People often say that we do not have to feel alone and it's true, we are always connected to a greater Source. Sometimes that alone feeling, however, is there to show us how connected we truly are and without those dark nights of the soul we go through from time to time maybe we would never know our true light and how worthy we are to receive it.
Besides, Oprah once said:
“We often block our own blessings because we don’t feel inherently good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, worthy enough. You’re worthy because you are born and because you are here you alone are enough"
...And we all know Oprah's word is pretty much effin' gold :)
